Chandrababu Naidu promises to strengthen law enforcement in Andhra Pradesh

Saying that investments in any state can only work if there is effective law and order in A state, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu promised to strengthen the police setup in Andhra Pradesh.
“Development of any country or state is possible only if there is effective law and order and people can live peacefully. There will be no development if people live in fear,” he said in the state assembly on Thursday.
Naidu emphasised that effective law and order was crucial for fostering development and attracting investments to Andhra Pradesh. Speaking in the Assembly, he outlined measures to strengthen governance, address crime, and ensure public safety to create a conducive environment for progress.
“If industries are set up employment can be generated and for industries to be established, investments should be made. Strong measures and stringent laws are necessary for providing a peaceful atmosphere,” Naidu said.
He also announced plans to fortify the police force by filling 6,100 vacant positions and introducing stringent laws to curb crime and abuse.
Naidu criticised the previous government’s inaction, pointing to its failure to combat drug trafficking and accusing it of facilitating land scams through the controversial Land Titling Act. He described the law as unconstitutional and a means to enable land mafias, adding that his administration revoked it upon assuming power.
The Chief Minister further stated that a public prosecutor would be appointed to strengthen legal action under the Preventive Detention Act. This will address issues such as spurious seeds, irregularities in sand mining, and black-market activities.
